Rivergums Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic and experienced Visual Arts Teacher. The successful applicant should be flexible, willing to work collaboratively with staff, have the passion and knowledge to incorporate Media Arts in their program, as well as connect with the school community to achieve the best outcomes for all students.
Rivergums PS opened in January 2016 and has approximately 675 students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Our motto is Discover, Believe, Achieve, Communities and the school has a high focus on a caring environment, academic and cross curricular opportunities, community engagement and partnerships. Rivergums PS has a strong commitment to Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) which focuses on respect, responsibility, resilience and persistence. The successful applicant will be motivated, innovative and display a high level interpersonal skills. Applicants must be prepared to engage and collaborate with teachers and teaching teams to support the integration of Visual and Media Arts with other curriculum areas.
They will inspire and enrich students in Media and Visual Arts as well as develop and support their creative and expressive potential. The successful applicant will ensure cross curricular links between the two subjects to enable students to experiment, interpret and develop media practices through their experiences.
Applicants will actively engage in self-refection processes to improve their practice. They will contribute to, reflect on and review whole school approaches in positive and cooperative ways. It is expected that applicants will have an excellent understanding and application of differentiated learning practices and be able to involve parents in their child’s learning.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

Eligibility
Employees will be required to:

Training
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
