Duncraig Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher of Home Economics to join their Technologies team.
As a Teacher – Home Economics, you will use your excellent interpersonal skills and ability to provide students with the highest quality curriculum delivery within the Home Economics Area. You will be skilled in instructional and curriculum design, possess a strong knowledge of Western Australian curriculum and will be highly informed of the latest developments within this domain.
The successful applicant will be reflective in assessing the effectiveness of their teaching practice and cultivate a safe and encouraging learning environment. You will set yourself and your students high expectations, demonstrate a commitment to excellence and use a range of pedagogies to enhance outcomes for students. You will need to be adaptive and self-motivated and prepared to enthusiastically embrace new opportunities.
In addition, the successful applicant will ideally have an excellent understanding of the Years 7 to Year 10 Western Australian Curriculum – Food Technology and the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) Food Science and Technology courses with the ability to successfully develop and deliver programs in this area. Having or willing to obtain a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, is highly desirable. We are seeking a teacher who is student and relationship focused, enthusiastic and innovative with the capacity to provide engaging, relevant and meaningful experiences while catering for diverse student learning needs. Experience with Gifted and Talented students and a demonstrated ability to effectively differentiate for both academic extension and Students at Educational Risk (SAER) students will be highly regarded.
Duncraig SHS maintains a significant focus on the quality of the teaching and learning that takes place, with a particular emphasis on maximising student engagement and student learning outcomes. You should have a genuine interest in working in collaboration with colleagues to lead improvements in pedagogy, curriculum and student achievement across Year 7 to Year 12. Strong knowledge and skills in the effective integration of innovative and engaging Information and Communications Technology (ICT) based technologies in the classroom is important, as Duncraig SHS operates a 1:1 personal Information and ICT device policy that is firmly embedded across all learning areas. A familiarity with Saron Education Quality Teachers Assistant (SEQTA) would be well regarded as this is the online learning management system used at Duncraig SHS.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

Training
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
