Ocean Reef Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint a dedicated and hardworking Workplace Learning and Student Support Officer to support the leadership team in ensuring every student is on a pathway to success.
As the Workplace Learning and Student Support Officer your role will be to collaborate with various key internal and external stakeholders to support planning, liaison and coordination of the school’s Workplace Learning program. The role will include monitoring and reporting objectives related to data, administration and communication.
In consultation with the school leadership team, you will manage the induction, training and monitoring of students in the Workplace Learning program. Knowledge, skills and understandings of department processes and procedures in relation to WPL is essential.
The successful applicant will administer assigned budgets, maintain records and support collation, tracking and reporting of VET and WPL data. Through these processes assist in the identification, enrolment, tracking and monitoring of students, including students with additional learning needs, providing information in relation to VET pathways.
The successful applicant will have a positive and solution focused approach to working in partnership with a diverse range of people. Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain positive working relationships, balance conflicting workload demands, able to maintain a high level of analytical skills, attention to detail and develop plans to ensure timelines and outcomes are achieved. They will be flexible, reliable, self-motivated, innovative and provide a high level of customer service in all matters of student and administrative services, as required, in a timely and efficient manner.
Experience of working in a secondary school context will be highly desirable.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Considerable knowledge of current Workplace Learning programs.
- Well-developed verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and facilitate school/industry partnerships.
- Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines and work autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Well-developed conceptual and analytical skills with an ability to provide innovative thinking in problem solving.
- Skills and experience in working effectively with at-risk students.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy;
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment; and
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
