Albany Primary School (PS) is seeking an enthusiastic and engaging Music Teacher to join their wonderful school team. The FTE may increase each year to accommodate class numbers.
The successful applicant will be motivated, engaging and have high expectations of our students. The teacher will create a learning environment which is challenging and supportive of all student needs. They will be committed to putting students first in their decision-making and undertaking the hard work that is inherent in delivering a motivating and quality Music education program.
The learning environment created will be engaging, challenging, caring, and catering for a range of needs to ensure all students make progress. Effective behaviour management strategies are used to establish and maintain an organised, orderly and learning-focused classroom. Albany PS is a Positive Behaviour Support School (PBS) with our four expectations defined as RISE (Show Respect, Include Others, Be Safe, Personal Excellence).
Ideally, the successful applicant will possess a comprehensive knowledge of the Arts (Music) Western Australian Curriculum and Assessment Outline. Applicants will support major school directions, as outlined in our Business Plan, and be committed to whole school approaches and initiatives.
At Albany PS there are several instrumental programs provided on site by Instrument Music School Services. Good communication and organisational skills are required in order for these programs to continue to run smoothly.
The successful applicant will be confident in working collaboratively, demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and be willing to assist in the growth of Albany PS.
Albany PS students come from a diverse range of social and cultural backgrounds. All staff are dedicated to providing a learning environment with a strong sense of community and belonging. Our highly desirable location nestled between Middleton Beach and the CBD of Albany has ensured our student numbers are at an optimum. Our school is 17 years old and built at the base of Albany Senior High School, which provides extensive opportunities. The school is well resourced and fortunate to have a very supportive parent body.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
