Champion Bay Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint a dedicated Technologies Specialist Teacher to assist students to maximise their potential, both at school and into the future. The successful applicant will have the ability to provide high quality teaching and learning programs that meet the needs of our students.
The successful applicant should be a proactive and passionate Design and Technology Teacher who is able to effectively teach across the school’s Design programs. This should include being able to provide students with learning opportunities in our senior school programs, such as Metal and Wood Work, developing school programs in Engineering and Computer-Aided Design, as well as contributing to our expanding Technologies team and working collaboratively within our Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) initiatives.
Having a sound grasp of drawing software in order to utilise 3D printers and laser cutters, in addition to an effective working knowledge of design and digital teaching strategies to develop technology based cooperative learning instructional strategies, will be highly desirable. The successful applicant should have the ability to build and implement programs with a Science, Technologies, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) focus with experience and/or interest in participating in cross curricular STEM initiatives.
Champion Bay SHS has a new Technologies facility and offers a variety of courses in Wood, Metals, Digital and Technical Graphics, as well as Robotics. We have a strong STEM focus that includes a Selective STEM program for our students (Champions Innovation Academy) designed for Year 7 to 10 students. Champion Bay SHS currently provides courses that cover Years 7 to 11, with expansion in 2021 to welcome our first group of Year 12 students.

You will support the implementation of the school business plan. Our broad curriculum offers pathways leading to attainment of an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR), to Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualifications or future employment.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
