The WA College of Agriculture – Harvey (WACOA) is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated and experienced Technical Officer – Agriculture Instruction (Dairy) to join their team.
We are seeking a Technical Officer with vocational competence in the dairy industry in milking operations, calf rearing and animal husbandry and one other of the College’s enterprise areas – Sheep, Beef, Horticulture, Equine, Workshop/Fabrication, Butchershop or Intensive Animals. Applicants will be required to hold or obtain a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment within twelve (12) months of commencement.
WACOA – Harvey is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO Provider 50421) and as part of the role the suitable applicant will be required to deliver, provide training and assess students in nationally recognised units of competence and qualifications from the AHC Training Package, in particular, Certificate II in Agriculture and Certificate III in Agriculture. Students will have varying levels of ability and interest so the trainer must be able to adapt and develop training materials to suit all students.
As this position attracts a Commuted Overtime Allowance (COT) at 15.38%, there is a requirement that 150 hours/year of overtime be completed for a full time employee. This overtime will be carried out in extracurricular activities including weekend duties on a roster basis in the dairy and other farm sections as required.
WACOA – Harvey is located about 1.5 hours south of Perth Western Australia, 20 minutes from the coast and 40 minutes north of Bunbury. It is situated in the heart of the Harvey irrigation district which services the dairy and horticulture industries and enjoys access to a significant range of agricultural industry and recreational opportunities. The College is located on a 900ha farm run on a semi commercial basis. A number of major enterprises are run including Beef, Dairy and Horticulture with students involved in all aspects of their operation. Students are also exposed and trained in smaller enterprises such as Sheep, Equine, Intensive Agriculture and Meat Processing.
The College is a co-educational facility providing education and training to students in Years 10, 11 and 12. The College has its own residential facilities which can accommodate up to 128 students. Current student enrolments are at approximately 170 students, comprising mainly of boarding students, with the remaining as day students. Students enrol from all areas of the state.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
Please note: The salary level for this position will be determined after the successful applicant is assessed as addressing all eligibility and selection criteria indicated in the relevant attached JDF in the context of the outcomes and selection criteria described.
The highest rate an applicant can start at as a L1 is Level 1.4 (as negotiated with the principal). However, applicants may still be able to commence at a L2.1 or L3.1 if suitably qualified or with requisite experience.
Level 2, $62,172 - $67,256 per annum (PSCA 2019)
Level 3, $70,896 - $76,717 per annum (PSCA 2019)
