Roebuck Primary School (PS) is seeking to appoint an experienced, positive, enthusiastic and reliable Cleaner in Charge to join our friendly team.
The successful applicant should be highly motivated and proactive person who takes pride in being responsible for providing a high standard of cleanliness within the workplace in order to provide a visually pleasing and safe learning environment for our students, staff and visitors to the school.
The successful applicant will be one who can organise and supervise staff, and who has sound knowledge of cleaning equipment and safe cleaning procedures, methods and practices. Have strong interpersonal and team motivational skills and be well organised and with have good record keeping skills. Duties will be performed over split shifts; AM and PM.
We are seeking a Cleaner in Charge with great communication skills and it is desirable for applicants to have experience in supervising staff, as the successful applicant will be responsible for the organising and supervising of school cleaning staff, including arranging relief staff. They will be responsible for highlighting issues and concerns on behalf of cleaners and respond to issues raised by other school staff.
In addition to the above, the Cleaner is Charge will liaise with the Manager Corporate Services on all cleaning matters, and record and respond to issues and concerns detailed in the communication book. They will maintain the cleaner’s time book along with organise and supervise the cleaning of the school and be responsible for monitoring and ordering stock supplies, opening and locking the school, including setting the security alarm system. Carry out internal cleaning duties, including the maintenance of carpets and hard floor surfaces, toilet cleaning, furniture and fittings, window cleaning, dusting and rubbish removal. They will perform external cleaning duties, including the cleaning of verandas and covered areas, cleaning of drink troughs and removal of cobwebs and will complete vacation cleaning duties.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- Complete the Department’s online training in manual tasks and hazardous substances within three months of commencement
- Complete Fundamentals of Cleaning training as soon as practicable
- Complete any other training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
