Geraldton Residential College is looking for a flexible and experienced Residential Supervisor to join their team. Please note part of this role includes the Supervision of the female Dormitories, Sleepover shifts, Weekend shifts and Active Night Duties.
As this college is a Co-educational Residential Facility this position is Gender Specific.
In this role you will have an interest in and experience working with young people. Residential Supervisors are responsible for the day to day care of female and male teenage students, they must be able to work with colleagues to ensure appropriate supervision of large groups of students and to work with parents and staff to coordinate care needs for students and as such will require excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
The successful applicant will be required to provide a high-level supervision and care for residential students. Supervisors are responsible for managing 12 to 18 year old female and male students during afterschool hours and on weekends. In this role you will plan and organise activities in keeping with the Department's excursion policies and support students to be prepared for the learning program at the college. The position has responsibility for maintaining discipline and behaviour standards in accordance with Departmental and school policy. The Residential Supervisor liaises with College/School departments/faculties through line management in the provision of out of school hour activities. This includes the supervision of sporting and recreational activities, hostel facilities (example; female dormitory, dining room) and the management of student's residential timetables.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our branch for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Sound written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with students, parents and teaching staff with a particular focus on multicultural or Aboriginal experience.
- Interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively work independently or as part of a team.
- Skills and understandings appropriate to the supervision and care of young people in a residential setting.
- Organisational skills with the ability to plan, organise, implement and record activities.
- Ability to manage risk through assessment and procedure as well as meeting Occupational Safety and Health requirements in a residential setting.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- to obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- to obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- within six months of commencement of employment to obtain and maintain a current:
- First Aid Certificate – Provide CPR (HLTAID001);
- First Aid Certificate – Provide First Aid (HLTAID003);
- LR Class Driver’s Licence with F endorsement;
- Aquatic Rescue for Group lll Pool Award*;
- Surf Rescue Certificate*; and
- within twelve months of commencement of employment obtain a Certificate IV in Community Services – Student Residential Care (CHC42015).
*Dependent on operational requirements as determined by College Manager.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement of employment;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision Making within six months of commencement of employment.
