Waroona District High School (DHS) is an Independent Public School (IPS) seeking to establish a pool for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2021 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 school year. We are seeking to appoint a pool of dedicated, highly competent and enthusiastic Upper Primary (Year 4-6) teachers with excellent interpersonal skills.
Suitable applicants will possess highly effective teaching practices and a willingness to seek constant improvement. Suitable applicants will have highly developed professional and practical knowledge in upper Primary curriculum, the ability to cater to multi age groups and have highly refined classroom management skills. Experience and successful outcomes working with Aboriginal students, students with special educational needs and students with challenging behaviours is paramount. The ability to develop good relationships with students and engage them in highly effective learning is also required to underakte this role.
The ability to integrate Information Communication Technology (ICT), provide blended learning opportunities and application of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) processes is highly desirable. Experience with Brightpath, Words Their Way or other Literacy intervention programs would be highly regarded.

Waroona DHS has approximately 250 students from Kindergarten to Year 10. We are a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) school prioritising whole school collaboration, engaging staff, students and parents in the development and evolution of shared expectations. The successful applicant will need to demonstrate instructional classroom management strategies for effective classroom behaviours, which facilitate learning. This focus on social and emotional development is crucial to the success of the delivery of the curriculum. The teaching expectation is every teacher is delivering explicit teaching strategies and utilising formative assessment and data analysis to provide quality and effective teaching practices that target students’ needs. As a PBS school we value quality teaching and know that we must and can provide highly effective emotional and social support to improve the academic outcomes of all students. Our staff demonstrate care for our students as individuals so that they are fully prepared for success in a rapidly changing world.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
