Applecross Primary School (PS) is seeking an enthusiastic and engaging Music Teacher to join their school.
The successful applicant should be highly motivated, innovative and have the positive interpersonal qualities of teachers who are able to work collaboratively in a team environment. The learning environment created by the teacher will be challenging and caring, catering for the range of needs which will see all students achieving their potential.
As a valuable member of the teaching staff, the successful applicant would be responsible for the educational outcomes of the school's contemporary music curriculum. We are seeking applicants who have the skills to build positive, caring relationships with students. Applicants must be prepared to participate in whole school and phase planning as well as curriculum teams.
A strong emphasis is currently placed on the Orff Schulwerk approach at Applecross. The Music Teacher is responsible for coordinating sound and music items for each fortnightly assembly. The Art and Music Specialists work in partnership to produce meaningful performances for students in the school. The music program runs as a job share partnership and it is therefore important for the successful applicant to be a positive contributor to the Arts teams.
At Applecross PS there is a String Ensemble and five instrumental programs provided by Instrument Music School Services – violin, viola, cello, classical guitar and clarinet. Good communication and organisation skills are required in order for the instrumental program to continue to run smoothly.
Located in the riverside suburb of Applecross, approximately 7 kilometres south of Perth, Applecross PS currently has approximately 530 students catering for students from Kindergarten through to Year 6. The school is set amid picturesque and historical grounds and having a small remnant strip of bushland bordering the oval, offers the opportunity to connect with environmental issues.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
