Duncraig Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint a Program Coordinator - Years 7 to 8.
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative leader who has outstanding interpersonal, organisational and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to create and maintain strong working relationships and seamlessly integrate within a well established team. The successful applicant will have the ability to highlight areas of need and use their skills to lead and bring about positive change to refine service in the support of students and stakeholders.
As the Student Services Manager, you will have the capacity to build and maintain a cohesive team comprising of teaching and non-teaching staff whilst managing the pastoral care and behaviour management of all students in Years 7 to 8, and maintain records and document processes in line with best practice, utilising the school’s platform. A familiarity with Saron Education Quality Teachers' Assistant (SEQTA) would be well regarded as this is the system used at Duncraig SHS. Working in collaboration with other Student Services Managers, you will oversee and review a range of policies, such as whole school behaviour, recognition and attendance, which includes implementation and communication with staff, students and parents. You will have knowledge of different internal and external stakeholders to help improve student outcomes in behaviour, pastoral care, attendance and academic achievement.
Student Services Managers at Duncraig SHS have a contemporary blend of a traditional Student Services role, that also includes opportunities to influence whole-school processes. Other specific responsibilities for this role include oversight of student leadership opportunities, academic reporting processes, line management of Students At Educational Risk (SAER) (Learning Support) Coordinator and relevant Year Coordinators, managing Orientation and Transition programs of Year 6 into Year 7, analysis of data that leads to improved student outcomes, academically, socially and emotionally.
Student Services Managers work in close collaboration with their relevant Associate Principal in creating the overarching vision and future focus in improving outcomes for all students within their cohorts of responsibility. They also work closely and in collaboration with the other Student Services Managers and Associate Principals and therefore teamwork skills are essential.
Duncraig SHS is situated in the North Western suburbs on the coastal strip 18km from Perth. It is a highly regarded and leading school, with a population of approximately 1,650 students and 160 staff. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be appointed to other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- Hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
