Are you a passionate, creative and engaging Early Childhood teacher?
Wongan Hills District High School (DHS) is seeking to employ an Early Childhood Teacher to commence at the beginning of 2021.
The successful applicant will be dynamic and dedicated Early Childhood specialist with a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. We are seeking a teacher who is reflective about their teaching practice, and committed to evidence-based decision making. A proven ability to provide a caring and supportive learning environment is highly regarded for this role. The successful applicant should have a sound understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework and the National Quality Standards, as well as a proven knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum. Wongan Hills DHS has a range of whole school practices and staff are expected to support these as they implement their teaching and learning programs. Knowledge of Talk for Writing, letters and sounds, and First Steps would be desirable.
A focus on play based learning is a priority for 2021 and will require an Early Childhood teacher who can provide students with a balanced curriculum that is engaging, productive and age appropriate. It would be highly regarded if the successful applicant has proven success working with students across a range of ability levels with a strong emphasis on concrete learning and providing targeted interventions to maximise opportunities for growth.
To be successful for this role you will need to show strong interpersonal skills as well as a willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and external networks to establish strong community partnerships. Staff at Wongan Hills DHS are supported to build their capacity through participating in targeted Professional learning directly aligned to the school priorities. The successful applicant will be expected to engage in whole school improvement activities including Professional Learning and school committees and be committed to developing shared practices that align with school vision.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
