Are you an inspirational and experienced Education Support teacher seeking an opportunity to join a team committed to establishing a culture of high care and engagement?
Balcatta Senior High School (SHS) are seeking to establish a pool for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2021 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 school year.
Commencing at the beginning of 2021, Balcatta SHS will be launching a new Education Support Programme, designed to provide a comprehensive education experience for students with special education needs. Suitable applicants will be committed to promoting and fostering student engagement and wellbeing in a supportive environment where success is celebrated. Flexibility within the new programme will be essential as well as a commitment to personal and professional growth. Suitable applicants will display high standards of professionalism and will embrace opportunities for collaboration within the school community.
Suitable applicants will have a strong focus on ensuring a safe and appropriate learning environment, and will be experienced in supporting education assistants to deliver evidence-based, best practice programs to enhance student outcomes. Ideally you will be a flexible, adaptive teacher and have specialist knowledge and skills related to students with disability, including Intellectual Disability (ID), multiple physical disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Suitable applicants should be able to manage class teams and liaise with parents and therapists to meet the educational and care needs of the students. Suitable applicants will ideally possess a sound understanding of the ABLEWA Curriculum Stages A to D and a substantial knowledge of Reporting to Parents Special Education Needs Schools Resourcing, Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network (ASDAN), National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD). Experience using a range of assessment and reporting methods to monitor student achievement in relation to learning outcomes and the ability to plan purposeful, relevant and authentic learning experiences that cater for different student learning needs will be highly regarded. A main component of those role will involve overseeing the development of meaningful and measurable Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and ensuring that IEPs outline functional curriculum objectives and support the whole child.
We are seeking applicants who are highly motivated with a collaborative approach to create an environment where students and staff excel. You will desirably possess highly developed communication skills and have the ability to develop successful working relationships with staff, students, parents and our partners in education. The ability to incorporate accessibility technology and information and communications technology (ICT) into learning programs will be highly advantageous.
About the School
Balcatta SHS is an Independent Public School with around 700 student enrolments and is situated in the northern suburbs of Perth. The school is currently undergoing expansion, renovation and refurbishment of the buildings. Our updated buildings incorporating the latest in technology and resources, are planned to be completed by the commencement of the 2021 school year. ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
