This is a permanent part-time (0.6FTE) position commencing Term 1, 2021.
Brentwood Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic – Science Teacher to join their passionate and committed school community.
As a Science Teacher at our school you will possess an excellent knowledge of the Science Curriculum and inquiry skills. You will be able to teach science to primary school students of all ages, as well as promote inquiry skills. Previous experience teaching science would be highly advantageous. You will be required to support a science extension and science enrichment program at the school.
The successful applicant will ensure students develop an understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum. You will expand students’ curiosity and willingness to explore and speculate on the changing world we live in, all living things within the Earth, as well as Earth and its place in the cosmos. As a Science teacher at our school, you will teach students about scientific methods and inquiry methods, and how to solve problems based on evidence based decisions. We are seeking a collaborative teacher who can work cross curricula with other teachers to deliver science learning in a connected, meaningful and inquiry focused way.
Brentwood is a safe, happy and positive school located within the City of Melville and approximately 12km from Perth CBD. The school was opened in 1956 and caters for student in Kindergarten to Year 6 with a population of over 20 different languages other than English. The diversity is valued and celebrated at Brentwood. We are seeking an individual who has sound organisation and coordination skills. You are expected to be able to contribute towards positive student outcomes, and make a difference within our school. We are seeking someone who is able to work well in a team, and build a positive rapport with both staff, students and families.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
