Kelmscott Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint an experienced teacher of German for the 2021 school year. The successful applicant will have a passion for languages education and the ability to contribute effectively to the continued development of the school’s languages program.
There is a possiblility of this appointment being increased to 0.6FTE.
Suitable applicants will have the ability to teach German across Years 8 to 10 and for the Senior Secondary years. Experience in teaching ATAR German is highly desirable. Kelmscott SHS’s languages team comprises a highly successful team of teachers of German and Japanese, committed to seeing students fulfil their aspirations. Kelmscott SHS is a school of opportunity for students offering Department of Education endorsed Specialist Programs in Agriculture and Music, Gifted and Talented (GAT) Secondary Selective Entrance Program and a range of Kelmscott Extension Programs (KEP) in Mathematics, Science, English and Humanities & Social Sciences. As a Teacher at Kelmscott SHS, you will exhibit innovation and creativity in classroom practices and cater for student diversity. You will demonstrate knowledge, understanding and expertise in the context of the languages curriculum and pedagogy. It is highly desirable that the successful applicant is able to understand instructional and curriculum design, exhibit self-reflective practices with a focus on quality teaching. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to regularly analyse systemic data and strategically plan for improvements at the classroom and learning area level in liaison with your colleagues. You will also work collaboratively with language assistants and other schools in moderation partnerships at the senior secondary level.
Our staff make use of different technologies to achieve student outcomes and are expected to engage students in learning technologies as the basis of active student learning, deep learning and lesson design. High levels of classroom management and the implementation of collaborative learning opportunities are requirements of the role.
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the ability to work with the wider community in the promotion of the languages learning area, including supporting students to access opportunities for exchange programs and engaging with other languages students in the metropolitan area.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.

Eligibility
Employees will be required to:

Training
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
