We are seeking to establish a pool for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2021 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 school year.
Suitable applicants will adopt evidence-based practice and pedagogy to meet the needs of students with ASD without a diagnosed intellectual disability. Knowledge of, and ability to, apply Western Australian curriculum is essential. You will be part of the primary school staff and may, over time, move between the specific role within the Specialist Learning Program for Students with ASD and mainstream class roles.
In collaboration with the Program Coordinator (Autism), teachers will provide innovative and engaging classes for our students and contribute to their sense of belonging and overall wellbeing in mainstream public primary schools. Teachers of this program will develop highly personalised learning plans to facilitate access to age-appropriate curriculum. They will apply evidence-based individualised education interventions to improve academic engagement, organisational skills, social thinking, peer relationships and self-regulation skills.
The teaching/learning program is effectively maintained by an experienced, capable staff, most of whom have attained ‘Senior Teacher’ status. The social and emotional development of students is given high priority through the teaching of virtues (values). Technology is used extensively as a tool to support the teaching/learning program with Interactive Whiteboards in all primary classes. The school is fully networked with 16 desktop computers housed in the library, with four desk top computers in each of the 11 classrooms.
Samson Primary School was officially opened in May 1987. It is located south of the Swan River at the eastern end of the Fremantle area. Adjacent to the Samson Recreation Centre, the school is an aesthetically inviting set of buildings, situated in beautifully kept grounds which feature grass trees, eucalypts, rose gardens and extensive grassed areas.

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
