Kent Street Senior High School (SHS) is seeking an enthusiastic and highly skilled Teacher of Arts to join their progressive team.
The successful applicant will be flexible, willing to work collaboratively with staff, and have a strong passion and the knowledge to incorporate the Arts as part of their program. Applicants will be conversant with the WA curriculum from Years 7 to 10 in each of the Arts learning areas and will exhibit sound professional knowledge, effective instructional practices, and the ability to engage and motivate students to achieve successful outcomes. The successful applicant will have well developed skills to differentiate the curriculum to meet the academic needs of all students.
The successful applicant will also be highly motivated, innovative and have exceptional interpersonal qualities, with an ability to work and teach in a team environment, and effectively collaborate with all stakeholders of the school community. The suitable applicant must possess well developed organisational skills and a strong commitment to the development and implementation of agreed learning area practices and approaches.
The successful applicant must be trained in Visual Arts and have a proven ability to teach other Arts contexts, such as, yet not exclusive to, Drama and Media. The successful applicant must possess the capacity to engage with our Specialist Fashion and Design programme (Years 7 to 10). Experience with software such as Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop is preferred.
Kent Street SHS is proud to be an Independent Public School located within 5 kilometres of the Perth CBD. We cater for a diverse clientele, some who travel great distances to engage in our Approved Specialist Programs, or reside at the Rotary Residential College located onsite. We also work as part of the Curtin Education Community to actively engage our local primary schools in the Victoria Park area with the ultimate aim that Kent Street becomes their recognised and respected secondary school of choice.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

Eligibility
Employees will be required to:

Training
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
