Appointment Pool
North Cottesloe Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of highly motivated and enthusiastic teachers of Kindergarten to Year 6 for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2021 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 school year.
We are seeking applicants who are motivated, innovative, and possess high quality teaching skills. They will be committed to ongoing professional growth and development, support current whole-school processes and participate in collaborative planning.
We seek teachers who will inspire students to develop an enthusiasm for learning in vibrant, engaging and supportive classrooms. Suitable applicants will ideally possess the ability to build strong and valuable relationships with students, staff and the school community. They will exhibit proactive strategies to support and improve student behaviour and engagement, to enable positive outcomes in and out of the classroom.
Suitable applicants should also able to illustrate how they have employed evidence-based teaching practices to significantly improve student outcomes. This will include the use of explicit instruction and the ability to transfer knowledge from short to long-term memory. They should also be knowledgeable on the application of our whole-school priorities and evidence-based teaching programs and practices such as: Seven Steps to Writing Success, the use of additive and multiplicative thinking in mathematics, the development of students’ emotional intelligence and the integration of Habits of Mind in pedagogy.
The school is well located, being on the Perth to Fremantle railway line and only a short walk from the ocean at North Cottesloe Beach. The school enrols students from Pre-Primary to Year Six, and also administers the Seaview Community Kindergarten, which offers a sessional kindergarten program.
Our staff are experienced, highly qualified and abreast of new educational trends. They set high standards, pursue excellence they are committed to ensuring all students achieve their potential. Our school was established in 1913. The buildings are modern inside, with much of the original architecture being retained. A recent building program has seen the development of: a state of the art two storey senior block (Years 4 -7); an Early Learning Centre located at the Wanslea centre adjacent to the school; and Music, Visual Arts, Library Resource and Inquiry Centres.
Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

Eligibility
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;

- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;

Training
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
