Appointment Pool
Melville Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of proactive, enthusiastic and driven English Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies that may arise throughout the 2021 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 school year.
We currently have multiple positions to appoint to for Term 1, 2021. These positions consist of both permanent and fixed term appointments.
Suitable applicants will be passionate, dedicated and highly motivated educators with the ability to provide high quality teaching and learning programs to meet the needs of our students. Applicants should have an excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and able to teach students of varying ability levels across Year 7 – 12 in a highly engaging manner. Strong knowledge and skills in the delivery of one or more of the following courses is highly desirable: Year 11 and/or 12 ATAR English, Literature and English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EALD). Additionally, teachers with capacity to teach Drama or who have experience in teaching Gifted and Talented or coordinating a Gifted and Talented Program are encouraged to apply.
Suitable applicants will also have a strong working knowledge of teaching strategies to support literacy skills development and strong performance in NAPLAN. At Melville we are committed to improving the literacy skills of our students in lower school to support their achievement across the Year 7 - 10 curriculum and to provide a solid platform for their success in both General and ATAR level courses in Senior School. Strong knowledge and skills in the effective integration of innovative and engaging ICT based technologies and cooperative learning instructional strategies is highly desirable.
We are looking for highly committed, adaptable and collaborative individuals who can work effectively as part of a team and who share our vision for continual improvement in teaching and learning and student performance. Applicants will actively participate in ongoing professional learning opportunities and continually reflect on their own teaching practice to enhance student engagement and achievement outcomes. Applicants will work in collaboration with the Head of Learning Area to lead improvements in pedagogy, curriculum and programming across Year 7 to 12 and to achieve set targets in the School Business Plan.

Eligibility
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;

Training
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
