Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community High School seeks to appoint a highly effective and empowered leader to join the executive team as an Associate Principal.
We are looking for a highly motivated school leader who is committed to achieving outstanding educational outcomes for all students. You will possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to develop productive relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Your ability to work collaboratively with the school staff, students and the wider community is an essential element of the Associate Principal role. The Associate Principal will be an integral member of the school’s leadership team. They will work closely with the Principal to promote and maintain the school’s culture, vision and values in the school community. The Associate Principal will also work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to plan and deliver a high-quality curriculum across the phases of learning at the school. To be successful in this role you will be a passionate educator, committed to making a difference in the lives of young people.
You will ideally have a clear understanding of the learning environment required to enhance the educational opportunities of our students to successfully transition to senior school and beyond. You will develop evidence based strategies to ensure the school continues to exceed student learning outcomes and high performance expectations as have been established through our partnerships with families, students and staff.
The successful applicant will ideally be a high-performer with demonstrated, successful leadership and management experience and strong professional knowledge. They will ideally demonstrate the capability and commitment required to sustain a culture of excellence in teaching, learning and assessment, reflecting contemporary pedagogical practices (including peer observational frameworks). The successful applicant will utilise their knowledge and experience in instructional leadership, as well as being a highly effective coach who fosters professional growth in others and cultivates successful outcomes focused teams that are reflective and use evidence to evaluate performance.
The successful applicant will ideally have the ability to think and plan strategically and to identify innovative and practical solutions to problems and challenges. Knowledge of contemporary student services systems, procedures and protocols along with the ability to contribute to the school’s ongoing reflective practice through engaging with the Electronic School Assessment tool (ESAT) will be highly regarded.
You will be a prominent leader within the school, to both the community and school board, overseeing a significant and diverse area of the school’s operations. As an integral member of the executive leadership team, you will establish and maintain collaborative and productive relationships with the school community, ensuring all students’ needs are met.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
