Duncraig Senior High School is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic and innovative Manager of Technology and Communications. The role is to lead, develop and maintain a safe, reliable and robust Information and Communications Technology (ICT) environment enhancing the learning, teaching and administrative outcomes of the school.
The successful applicant will ideally possess a highly accomplished understanding of Department and school ICT legislative and policy frameworks and operating networks. This will include:
- Providing guidance to others in ICT management and undertaking a leadership role, through exceptional ICT technical and management skills;
- Integrating ICT with school business requirements and strategically plan for emerging and future technologies and directions; and
- Providing advice about and coordinating professional learning to meet school needs for ICT.
Experience in working within the Department of Education’s policy, procedures and frameworks and having a track record in utilising technical environments to enhance learning for students, staff and the school community would be highly regarded.
As the successful applicant you will exhibit a strong ability to communicate, both written and orally, effectively with all stakeholders in our community, be able to work independently as well as collaboratively and be able to prioritise to ensure tasks are completed within set deadlines.
The successful applicant will be able to efficiently and effectively lead a team while also working alongside key stakeholders to ensure the daily operation of the school is maintained. You will need to possess the capacity to operate, develop and maintain a dual platform environment and support the school’s parent funded 1:1 bring your own device (BYOD) structure. A number of technologies and third party software is utilised, such as Office 365, SEQTA and Cyberhound. Throughout the school ViVi and short throw projectors are used as the school has adopted technology-based pedagogies to redefine learning and to form an integrated approach to education.
Duncraig SHS is situated in the North-Western suburbs on the coastal strip 18km from Perth. It is a highly regarded and leading school, with a population of approximately 1650 students and 160 staff. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be appointed to other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work-related requirements:
- Strategic ICT planning skills and the ability to formulate sound recommendations consistent with business plans and priorities.
- Well-developed conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills relevant to technical support, including the ability to manage conflicting priorities and demands whilst maintaining customer service principles and practices.
- Experience in effective team leadership with proven leadership skills in managing a team and managing projects of a technical nature with an understanding of the implications of change.
- Substantial experience in managing ICT networks and projects, including strategic risk mitigation and change management.
- Considerable knowledge of software licensing and IT copyright obligations and regulations.
- Well-developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to maintain collaborative working relationships and work independently.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
