Appointment Pool
We are seeking to establish a pool for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2021 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 school year.
Newman Senior High School (SHS) is seeking suitably qualified, dedicated and enthusiastic Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) Teachers to join their team. We are looking for teachers with excellent interpersonal skills who will provide high quality learning experiences for all students in HASS. Early career teachers are encouraged to apply.
Suitable applicants will have a passion for secondary education, a positive attitude and a willingness to work collaboratively with a focus on high expectations of student progress and success. You will have sound knowledge and teaching practice in the HASS curriculum, especially Years 7-10. The school currently offers ATAR and General HASS courses in Years 11 and 12 either face to face or via the School of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE). You will be highly motivated, innovative and able to work collaboratively in a team environment designing and preparing relevant curriculum and assessment materials to meet our students at their point of need. A capacity to teach in other areas will be well regarded, as being flexible in a small school is an advantage.

Furthermore, you will be able to apply for a waiver on indexation on HECS HELP and FEE Help, and if you work full time for four years in a six year period, from 2023 you can apply to have the HELP debt remitted for education qualification related tuition costs.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

Eligibility
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;

- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;

Training
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
