This is a sixty (60) month fixed term, full-time position commencing ASAP
The Teaching and Learning Services – Statewide Services Division is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and committed Program Officer in the Teaching and Learning Services – Statewide Services branch, for a five (5) year appointment.
The successful applicant will assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and guidelines related to the Gifted and Talented Selective Arts Program. In addition, you will provide advice to parents and information to schools about Secondary Selective Entrance Gifted and Talented Arts Programs.
You will provide support and assistance to the Principal Consultant in the processes related to Arts student identification and selection, including dealing with telephone inquiries, preparing correspondence and briefing notes, recruiting moderators and preparing and planning of venues and locations used as testing centres.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our branch for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Considerable knowledge and understanding of the Gifted and Talented program objectives, initiatives and policies.
- Experience and skills in planning, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating programs.
- Well developed oral and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders and work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Well developed conceptual and analytical skills with the ability to identify and clarify problems and construct solutions.
- Well developed written communication skills, including experience in the preparation of reports and briefing notes.
- Well developed data management skills, including data analysis and reporting, and the ability to interpret data, analyse trends and provide recommendations.

Eligibility
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
Training
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
