Appointment Pool
We are seeking to establish a pool for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2021 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 school year.
The suitable applicant will create a classroom environment that is caring, differentiated and responsive to the needs of each individual student. The suitable applicant will be a reflective teacher with a commitment to continual professional growth to improve their practice. Applicants with knowledge and experience in working with students with moderate/severe and complex high needs are encouraged to apply. It would be desirable if you are familiar with, or willing to learn, strategies and use of evidence based programs such as Applied Behaviour Analysis, Direct Instruction, TEACCH, task analysis and the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) to work effectively with our diverse range of students.

At Halls Head College ESC, we strongly believe that all students are capable of learning and we seek to support them as they progress through the middle schooling years. Our school strives for excellence within a highly collaborative and team focussed culture and we are currently seeking a committed and dedicated Education Support Teacher.
The ESC is situated on the campus of Halls Head College. In 2020 the enrolment of 51 students are drawn from the Mandurah area and its surrounding suburbs from as far north as Golden Bay, south to Waroona and east to Pinjarra. Halls Head College ESC caters for students with an intellectual disability, autism or other high level support needs from Years 7 to 10.
Halls Head College ESC is a Positive Education school and staff must be committed to developing genuine rapport with students and prioritising the development of a positive working environment to ensure student success. Teaching staff use Classroom Management Strategies (CMS) and evidence based lesson design to create a high quality learning environment. The suitable applicant will have effective classroom management skills to enhance student wellbeing and personal responsibility. They will be flexible, as well as have strong interpersonal and communication skills, a commitment to professional learning and a high level of participation in collaborative team planning. The ability to positively manage a team of education assistants is crucial to this role. They will support school leadership in the implementation of the HHC ESC business plan, be committed to whole school approaches and initiatives and have a strong evidence based approach to teaching. They will have an ability to build effective working relationships with students, parents, staff and the wider community. An ability, or willingness to learn to teach Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network (ASDAN), Workplace Learning and Enterprise Learning is highly desirable.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

Eligibility
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;

- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;

Training
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
