Wellard Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic School Officer to join our Corporate Services team.
The successful applicant should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work in collaboration with our administrative team. Applicants who have a thorough knowledge of Department of Education databases, records management systems and financial knowledge to support the Manager of Corporate Services will be highly regarded. The successful applicant should ideally have the skills and ability to support the administration and management of financial and human resources utilising RM Billing, QKR, RM Finance and HRMIS.
The successful applicant will need to contribute to a positive team culture and enjoy the challenge of working in a new and vibrant primary school. We are looking for someone who wants to make a difference to their community, providing innovative and collaborative solutions to customer enquiries and issues. You will be highly flexible, enthusiastic and energetic with the ability to work with all stakeholders, including new school students, families, staff, community groups, suppliers and service providers.
Wellard PS opened in 2018 and caters for students from Kindergarten to Year Six, with student numbers predicted to reach in excess of 720 in 2021. Our school provides the local community with state-of-the-art educational facilities and a range of whole school teaching programs to support all students in their learning and development. The goal for Wellard PS is to develop resilient students who are literate, numerate, and curious learners. We want parents and carers to feel welcome, to be listened to, to be actively involved and supported in their child's education and to support the school in providing the best possible education for their children.
The school is situated on Breccia Parade amongst the rapid growing estates of Emerald Park, Providence Estate, Sunrise at Wellard Estate and Oakabella Estate stretching up to the suburb of Casuarina on the eastern side of the freeway.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Experience in providing effective administrative support with the ability to organise and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Experience in financial processes and procedures, including the handling of debtors, creditors, reconciliations, and /or preparing financial returns.
- Ability in using computers and a range of application software packages, particularly databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
- Good verbal and written communication skills and experience in the application of customer service principles and practices.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
