Appointment Pool
Yakamia Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of Teachers - Kindergarten to Year 6, for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise at the commencement of 2021 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2021. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2021.
Yakamia PS is seeking dedicated teachers who are committed to providing high quality teaching and engaging learning programs in a supportive and inclusive environment. Suitable applicants will be collaborative in striving to achieve our vision Belong Believe Become – Success for all students, ensuring students are at the forefront of everything we do.
Suitable applicants will ideally possess a comprehensive understanding of effective evidence-based teaching methods and provide explicit teaching in Literacy and Numeracy. Successful applicants will have the ability to differentiate the curriculum to meet student needs and be able to analyse and use student and school data to make targeted improvement in student learning.
As a teacher at Yakamia PS, suitable applicants will have a have highly developed organisation and interpersonal skills. The staff engage in collaborative practices such as phase and curriculum teams to achieve high standards in both individual and whole school performances. Applicants will support major school directions, as outlined in our Business Plan, and be committed to whole school approaches and initiatives. A knowledge of the iSTAR teaching model, Letters and Sounds and Words their Way programs would be desirable.
Yakamia is a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) school and our behaviour expectation RESPECT YPS – Yourself, People, School, is embedded across the whole school. Suitable applicants will have effective behaviour management to maintain an engaging, orderly and caring learning environment and will be effective in implementing PBS and the expected behaviours matrix.
Yakamia PS has 400 students and is located in Yakamia area, in the City of Albany. The staff at Yakamia are highly experienced and dedicated to the providing quality learning and wellbeing support to our students. Our school is well regarded within the local community and we have numerous students from other areas wishing to enrol at our school. We pride ourselves on the positive relationships that exist between staff, students and parents.
Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.

- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
