As teachers at our school, suitable applicants will be passionate educators committed to making a difference in the lives of all young people. Suitable applicants should have a strong knowledge of the Western Australian (WA) Curriculum and be confident in providing an engaging education with a focus on optimising learning guided by the desire to consistently seek to improve student learning.
Our school is committed to establishing itself as a Professional Learning Community (PLC) whose focus is on optimising learning though a strong collaborative practice guided by student results. You will possess excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills and the ability to work in a highly collaborative manner.
Suitable applicants should be able to exhibit exemplary student-centred and evidence-based teaching practices that result in high levels of achievement and progress for all students. We are seeking teachers who can differentiate the curriculum through ‘best practice’ lesson design, instructional strategies and innovative and flexible program delivery.

The utilisation of peer and classroom observations and feedback to support professional development will form an important aspect of this role, as will the capacity to work as an active and effective member of a collaborative team, by sharing experiences and resources, responding to feedback and demonstrating an ongoing commitment to professional development. Teachers will be expected to engage regularly in honest, rigorous professional conversations about how to develop and improve practice with a constant focus on optimising student success.
In addition, suitable applicants will understand that social-emotional skills and positive student behaviour need to be explicitly modelled and taught on a daily basis. They will fully support and implement whole-of-school behaviour management strategies within their classrooms. At Bindoon PS, we are committed to following our Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) focus with an increasing focus on extrinsic rewards.
Applicants who desire to teach in the early years (Kindergarten to Year 2) will support an approach to purposeful play-based learning that seeks to achieve specific outcomes for individual students through careful planning, deliberate and explicit learning goals and intentional teaching. You will show a strong knowledge and commitment to the outcomes of the WA Curriculum and Early Years Learning Framework with the National Quality Standards embedded in the learning environment.
Teachers who have additional expertise in key school approaches are encouraged to apply. These approaches include Classroom Management Strategies (CMS), co-operative learning, Sounds Write, Words Their Way and Talk 4 Writing. First Steps Mathematics knowledge and/or Paul Swan strategies that promote the application of mathematical concepts are considered desirable.
Teachers specialising in the Arts and Science are also encouraged to apply.
It is highly desirble for all suitable applicants to be confident users of digital technologies and be able to integrate them across the curriculum as part of their teaching and learning programs. The effective use of interactive whiteboards as well as iPads and laptops will be an important requirement of this role.
