Appointment Pool
Albany Primary School (PS) are seeking to establish a pool of Teacher - K-2 for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2021 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 school year.
Albany PS is looking for teachers with high expectations who truly believe that all children can learn and be successful, and who pursue excellence in their teaching. Suitable applicants will be committed to putting students first in their decision-making and undertaking the hard work that is inherent in delivering a motivating and quality educational program. They must possess the use of exemplary, evidence-based teaching practices which has led to student success and high standards of achievement.
The learning environment created will be engaging, challenging, caring, and catering for a range of needs to ensure all students make progress. Effective behaviour management strategies are used to establish and maintain an organised, orderly and learning-focused classroom. Albany PS is a Positive Behaviour Support School (PBS) with our four expectations defined as RISE (Show Respect, Include Others, Be Safe, Personal Excellence) and is currently in the implementation phase of the school Matrix.
Suitable applicants will possess a comprehensive knowledge of the West Australian Curriculum, with explicit teaching skills in Literacy and Numeracy and the ability to use data to drive planning. Applicants will support major school directions, as outlined in our Business Plan, and be committed to whole school approaches and initiatives. A knowledge of the Talk 4 Writing and Letters and Sounds programs would be desirable.
Suitable applicants will be confident in working collaboratively, possess effective interpersonal skills and willing to assist in the growth of Albany PS.

Our highly desirable location nestled between Middleton Beach and the CBD of Albany has ensured our student numbers are at an optimum. Our school is 17 years old and built at the base of Albany Senior High School, which provides extensive opportunities. The school is well resourced and fortunate to have a very supportive parent body.
Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.

- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
