Eaton Community College (CC) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher – Home Economics to join their friendly school.
As a successful applicant you will have an excellent understanding of the Years 7 to 10 WA Curriculum - Food Technology and the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) Food Science and Technology courses and the ability to successfully develop and deliver programs in this area. Experience in industry and/or delivering Vocational Education and Training programs, including Certificate II in Hospitality, and holding a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, is highly desirable. We are seeking a teacher who is student and relationship focused, enthusiastic and innovative with the capacity to provide engaging, relevant and meaningful experiences while catering for diverse student learning needs. The successful applicant may also be required to teach other classes within the technologies learning area.

The College is a medium-sized school catering for approximately 600 students from Year 7 to Year 12 and is an Independent Public School. We offer a wide range of courses from Vocational Education Training (VET), General and ATAR subjects. We are a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) school prioritising whole school collaboration, engaging staff, students and parents in the development and evolution of shared expectations. The successful applicant will need to demonstrate instructional classroom management strategies for effective classroom behaviours, which facilitate learning. This focus on Social and Emotional development is crucial to the success of the delivery of the curriculum. The teaching expectation is that every teacher is delivering explicit teaching strategies, utilising formative assessment and data analysis to provide quality and effective teaching practices that target students’ needs. This year we have embraced Professional Learning Communities focusing on two major areas: Quality Teaching and Social and Emotional Learning. These communities are a significant part of our whole school development and on-going improvements, engaging all staff in the process. We are highly supported by an internal Specialist Literacy Teacher and support personnel, with a current focus on Reading, and a proactive PBS team.
In addition, we have an Education Department endorsed Specialist Learning Program for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The program is embedded within the learning environment and we demonstrate inclusive practices. Our educators access our highly skilled specialist personnel, who work with our mainstream educators towards differentiating and prioritising the strengths of individual students and their needs.

The College site is adjacent to the Glen Huon Primary School and close to community facilities such as the Eaton Fair shopping centre, Dardanup Shire Offices and a community oval, placing it in the heart of the Eaton community. The site contains significant wetlands of two hectares that form the focal point of the buildings, as well as spacious, landscaped gardens and lawns that provide a beautiful outlook for active, growing students.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

TRAINING
