Lynwood Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a highly competent, resilient and enthusiastic Program Coordinator – Manager Student Services (Senior School), to join the high functioning Student Services Team at our dynamic and award winning school.

Critical to this position is:
- A deep understanding of WACE requirements, SCSA policies and processes and VET pathways
- A highly developed ability to interpret student data and apply successful intervention strategies which support and extend student achievement
- Strong organisational and planning skills to enable effective development, implementation and monitoring of the case management of educationally at-risk students
- Currency in contemporary understanding of leading school improvement and change initiatives
- Experience in department policy, behaviour management in schools and procedures.
- Capacity to lead pastoral care programs that promote positive student wellbeing.
- The ability to lead a team in the planning, coordination and supervision of senior school activities and events throughout the school calendar
The successful candidate will be a key figure in supporting students to fully engage in their final years of schooling, enabling them to become positive, responsible, respectful and caring members of the school and wider community.
The successful applicant should demonstrate a love of learning and a growth mind-set should be evident in their interaction with staff, students, parents and other stake-holders, and in their application of research based school-wide strategies and interventions to reinforce positive behaviour and engagement in learning. Student Wellbeing is a school priority and will underpin the work of the Program Coordinator – Manager Student Services (Senior School) in developing, leading and implementing relevant strategies in areas such as managing student behaviour and attendance.
The Program Coordinator – Manager Student Services (Senior School) will work closely with the Senior School Deputy Principal to develop strong and productive working relationships with staff, students and other stake-holders and will be key to strengthening the opportunities provided for senior school students.
The school is implementing a number of teaching and learning initiatives informed by Lynwood’s involvement in the Fogarty EdVance Program and is continuing the roll-out of Explicit Instruction across the school. This will require the successful applicant to develop their skills as an instructional leader, providing support to the school’s major teaching and learning strategy, through working in partnership with other school leaders, supporting the development of teachers and implementing Explicit Instruction in the class that you will teach.
In line with the Department’s strategic plan, High Performance – High Care, the work of the Program Coordinator –Manager Student Services (Senior School) is to support all students to engage in every facet of their learning to ensure success. As part of a dynamic and committed student well-being team, you will implement and monitor the success of strategies to support both individual and cohorts of students from Years 11 to 12. As part of this large team, you will bring to the position an understanding of the theory behind and the application of positive psychology principles, actively supporting the implementation of the Everyday Leader Program across the school.
Lynwood SHS became an Independent Public School in 2012 and won the WA Education Awards Secondary School of the Year in 2018 after being a finalist in 2015. We are in our third year of the Fogarty EdVance Program and will be continuing as an Alumni school from 2020. This program has strongly informed our professional learning, reflection and planning processes and a deep focus on evidence based, high impact teaching and learning strategies.
With an *ICSEA of 977 (Band 6), we have around 55% LBOTE and over 60 different nationalities represented at the school. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
