This is a twelve (12) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2021 with possible extension and/or permanency.
Kelmscott Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a Teacher – Home Economics who is a highly committed, adaptable and collaborative individual who can work effectively as part of a team, is motivated by our school vision and wants to play an active role in driving this vision alongside our talented team of technologies teachers.
As a Teacher at Kelmscott SHS, you will exhibit innovation and creativity in your classroom practices and cater for student diversity. The successful applicant will lead ongoing improvements in pedagogy, curriculum and programming across Years 7 to 12 and support the home economics and hospitality programs to achieve set targets in the School Business Plan.
As the successful applicant, you will be ready to actively participate in professional learning opportunities and continually reflect on your classroom practice to sustain a culture of high-quality teaching and ongoing improvement. We are seeking applicants with knowledge and skills to utilise systemic data such as Student Achievement Information System (SAIS), National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) and Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA) to address individual student learning needs. Experience in teaching ADPWL is desirable. Applicants with Certificate IV in TAE are highly desirable.
You will be able to demonstrate highly developed interpersonal, communication and organisational skills. The successful applicant will demonstrate initiative, motivation, and possess the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as independently. You will be responsible for providing support and advice within the technologies learning area and assist with monitoring budgets, class preparation, equipment and materials. You will also manage stocks, including the ordering of supplies and equipment; liaise with suppliers; and complete annual stock-takes in accordance with the DOE guidelines.
You will need to demonstrate your ability to provide engaging, relevant and meaningful learning experience for students. Demonstrating the required knowledge and skills to differentiate your teaching, you will apply a broad range of instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students. As a ‘relationship focused’ teacher, you will demonstrate your commitment to building a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment that promotes a genuine passion for learning and the successful achievement of outcomes.

Kelmscott SHS is a school of opportunity for students offering endorsed Specialist Programs in Agriculture, Music and Gifted and Talented Secondary Selective Entrance Program. The school also offers a range of Kelmscott Extension Programs (KEP) in Mathematics, Science, English and Humanities and Social Sciences. We are only one of two schools to provide Gifted and Talented online to rural areas. It is highly desirable that the successful applicant is able to understand instructional and curriculum design, exhibit self-reflective practices with a focus on quality teaching and is able to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. ELIGIBILITY

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
