WA College of Agriculture – Harvey is seeking to establish a pool of Agricultural Instruction Technical Officers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2020 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2021. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2020 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2021.
Suitable applicants will be involved in day-to-day farm operations with expertise in two enterprises being highly desirable. You will also participate in the implementation of the farm development plan and in maintaining enterprises on the farm which may include livestock management (sheep cattle and intensive animals), fodder conservation, regenerative agriculture, horticulture, butcher shop, general farm, mechanics, fabrication and building maintenance.
Suitable applicants may be appointed to any of the seven major farm enterprises operating on the College farm with current vacancies being in the intensive, dairy (cattle) and horticultural fields. You will have the ability to work as part of a practical team and instruct secondary students, years 10 to 12. This position requires someone who is passionate about agriculture in the higher rainfall zones of Western Australia who enjoys instructing small groups of young adults. Suitable applicants will be required to hold or obtain a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment within 12 months of commencement and hold a C class driver’s licence.
WA College Of Agriculture - Harvey is located about 1.5 hours south of Perth, Western Australia, and is 20 minutes from the Ocean and 30 minutes north of Bunbury. It is situated in the heart of the Harvey irrigation district, which services the dairy and horticulture industries and enjoys access to a significant range of agricultural industry and recreation opportunities. It consists of the College Farm (930 Ha) across two sites, Residential Buildings, Classrooms, Trade Training Workshops and Administration.
The College is a co-educational facility providing secondary education to years 10, 11 and 12 students. The College has its own residential facilities which can accommodate up to 128 students. Current student enrolments are at approximately 170 students, comprising mainly of boarding students, with the remaining as day students.
Please note: The salary level for this position will be determined after the successful applicant is assessed as addressing all eligibility and selection criteria indicated in the relevant attached JDF in the context of the outcomes and selection criteria described.
The highest rate an applicant can start at as a L1 is Level 1.4 (as negotiated with the principal). However, applicants may still be able to commence at a L2.1 or L3.1 if suitably qualified or with requisite experience.
Level 2, $62,172 - $67,256 per annum (PSCA 2019)
Level 3, $70,896 - $76,717 per annum (PSCA 2019)
