Campbell Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of Deputy Principals for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2020 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2021. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2020 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2021.
Suitable applicants will be highly motivated, reflective, and enthusiastic and should have successful well-developed leadership experience within their current role. We are looking for applicants who possess excellent organisation skills, as well as highly developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to pay attention to detail and work cooperatively and efficiently in a team environment. Other desirable qualities would include a positive attitude and the ability to anticipate and adapt to change and demonstrate initiative, as well as actively supporting a strong culture of collegiality, integrity and high expectations.
As a Deputy Principal, you would also be required to have the ability to lead professional learning communities that focus on student learning and high levels of collaboration. Furthermore, you will work closely with Team Leaders and Curriculum Leaders to support classroom learning and teacher development. This will include coaching, mentoring and the use of classroom observations and constructive feedback. Ideally, you will support a positive school culture with staff, students, parents and the wider community.
The Deputy Principal role will require suitable applicants to lead either Early Childhood (Kindergarten to Year 2) or Middle Childhood (Years 3-6), including a Curriculum Improvement and Student Services component.
Ideally, suitable applicants will have a sound knowledge of and experience in implementing and using digital technology for a variety of purposes. Experience in leading the implementation of the West Australian Curriculum within a cross curricular context to enhance learning would also be highly desirable.
Suitable applicants should also possess extensive knowledge in whole school approaches to curriculum, data analysis, and the ability to successfully assist staff with identifying key areas of focus to support the school’s Vision, Business Plan and Operational Plans. To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
