Woodlands Primary School (PS) is seeking an exemplary Deputy Principal to join their school leadership team. We are seeking an enthusiastic, innovative and team oriented Deputy Principal with either student services and/or curriculum expertise to join our friendly team. While the position is a fulltime permanent deputy position with a 0.3 FTE teaching load, the successful applicant can negotiate to work part-time.
In collaboration with the Principal and members of the administrative team, the Deputy Principal provides educational leadership in the school and the community by developing and promoting the school vision and facilitating workforce effectiveness. We are looking for an experienced individual committed to achieving the best educational outcomes for our students.
To be successful you will ideally have the following skills and attributes:
- Outstanding interpersonal skills;
- Proven ability to initiate, lead and embed change;
- Able to establish highly effective working relationships with students, parents and staff;
- A proven ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment;
- A continuous focus on self and school improvement; and
- Leadership in the implementation of whole school engagement and behaviour processes (Deputy Student Services); and/or
- Instructional leadership in the implementation of the Western Australian Curriculum: English or Mathematics or Digital Technologies that embed whole school approaches. (Deputy Curriculum).
Woodlands PS is a K-6 Independent Public School (IPS) with a strong curriculum, collaborative and community culture. Woodlands PS have a tradition of delivering excellence in teaching, learning and assessment through curriculum coaching and collaborative practices. Teachers are expected to engage in regular planning meetings with curriculum leaders to refine and develop high quality teaching programs, incorporating Technology, Guided Reading; effective lesson design; and the Departments Effective Reading and Writing models. Technology is an integral part of our teaching and learning programs with students in Year 2 to Year 6 participating in the BYO iPad program. The SAMR model is utilised across the curriculum to enrich the student’s learning experience.
Woodlands Primary School is embedding the Positive Behaviour Support program, which embodies four key values as part of growing our 21st century students and teachers: Humanity, Respect, Belonging and Possibilities. The school places great importance on developing positive environmental behaviour across our school community and developing global citizens for our future through an educative approach. Kagan cooperative learning structures are core components of our whole school practices and the staff is supported to implement Kagan into teaching and learning programs.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
