Appointment Pool
Newton Moore Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of dedicated and motivated School Officers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2020 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2021. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2020 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2021.
As suitable applicants will be engaged under the Public Service Award and generally be required to work School Vacation periods; self-motivation, initiative and the ability to work unsupervised are essential. They will have strong organisational skills as School Officers work within an environment of constant change and must be able to prioritse tasks and meet competing deadlines.
As a School Officer, you will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work in collaboration with our administrative team. Qualities, such as a thorough knowledge of Department of Education databases, records management systems and financial knowledge to support the Manager of Corporate Services will be highly desirable.
We are looking for individuals who have a broad range of experiences and set of skills relevant to a variety of tasks undertaken by school officers working in high school environments. Specific experience and expertise in one or more of the following areas is essential:
- Reception
- Faults management
- Enrolments
- SIS / SEQTA (student management systems)
- Financial Processes – Billing, Reconciliations, GST, Month End
- Timetabling
- Vocational Education Training / Workplace Learning
- Staffing – Recruitment / leave management / HRMIS
Newton Moore SHS is an Independent Public School (IPS) located in Bunbury, a coastal city 175km south of Perth. The school delivers two DOE Approved Specialist Academic Programs: Science Horizons and Engineering Specialist and are a Teacher Development School (TDS) for secondary science. Newton Moore SHS also provides enrichment through the following programs: Moore Academy of Sport and Health (MASH), Follow the Dream, Clontarf Football Academy, Girls Academy and CALM Cadets.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Experience in providing effective administrative support with the ability to organise and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Experience in financial processes and procedures, including the handling of debtors, creditors, reconciliations, and /or preparing financial returns.
- Ability in using computers and a range of application software packages, particularly databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
- Good verbal and written communication skills and experience in the application of customer service principles and practices.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment;
- rovide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
