Appointment Pool
Newton Moore Senior High School is seeking to establish a pool of motivated and conscientious School Officers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2020 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2021. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2020 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2021.
As School Officers are the first point of contact for staff, students and visitors to our school, you will need to be confident, organised and approachable.
The successful applicant will have an excellent focus on team work, self-motivation and initiative and be able to model excellence in the delivery of administrative support for school leaders. School Officers work within an environment of constant change and must possess the ability to prioritise tasks and meet competing deadlines.
School Officers may provide a dedicated assistance to the Principal, Deputy Principal or Manager. This role would include but not be limited to organising and monitoring the Manager’s appointment calendar, attending meetings to take minutes, collating information and creating report documents.
We are looking for individuals who have a broad range of experiences and set of skills relevant to a variety of tasks undertaken by school officers working in high school environments. Specific experience and expertise in one or more of the following areas is essential:
- Personal Assistant
- Create and prepare materials for publication
- Reception
- Faults management
- Enrolment procedures
- SIS Attendance module
- RM Billing
- Reporting to Parents
- Vocational Education Training / Workplace Learning
As School Officers can be assigned different duties over time, applicants should demonstrate an eagerness to take on the challenge of learning skills should the need arise.
Newton Moore SHS is an Independent Public School (IPS) located in Bunbury, a coastal city 175km south of Perth. The school delivers two DOE Approved Specialist Academic Programs: Science Horizons and Engineering Specialist and are a Teacher Development School (TDS) for secondary science. Newton Moore SHS also provides enrichment through the following programs: Moore Academy of Sport and Health (MASH), Follow the Dream, Clontarf Football Academy, Girls Academy and CALM Cadets.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Experience in providing effective administrative support with the ability to organise and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Experience in financial processes and procedures, including the handling of debtors, creditors, reconciliations, and /or preparing financial returns.
- Ability in using computers and a range of application software packages, particularly databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
- Good verbal and written communication skills and experience in the application of customer service principles and practices.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to
- commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within
- six months of appointment.
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
