Salary: MP Year 1-2 $191,488 - $200,344 p.a. (inclusive of base salary, 9.5% superannuation, and professional development allowance)

Position Profile: The successful applicants to the fellow position are expected to act in a senior registrar role for 1 year and share clinical duties with trainees and junior registrars in Paediatric Surgery at Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH).
- The surgical department is staffed with 7 surgeons, 4 surgical trainees and 3 fellows who are mainly international fellows.
- It is the only centre for the entire Western Australia to provide surgical management for newborns.
- We provide broad subspecialty exposure:
- General surgery including complex colorectal, hepatobiliary and upper GI.
- High volume routine elective and emergency work.
- Fetal diagnosis—involved in antenatal counselling for general/thoracic and urology conditions and then post-natal care at our large NICU.
- Trauma—an active, Level 1 paediatric trauma centre with extensive exposure to blunt and penetrating injuries, burns and critical care with state of the art PICU services.
- Minimally invasive surgery—fellows will get extensive training in laparoscopic general surgery and urology and thorascopic procedures with state of art endoscopic instruments.
- Oncology—only centre in WA, offering surgical oncology services including lines placement and multidisciplinary meetings.
- Urology—extensive experience of congenital conditions including bladder extrophy, laparoscopic/open pyeloplasty, ureteric reimplantations, hypospadias surgery, stone management with Laser/ESWL / endoscopic urology and spinal clinics with reconstruction work including bladder augmentations and urodynamics.
- Thoracic—congenital open and thoracoscopic experience.
- Burns with state of the art management.
- High volume clinics to rotate through with numerous multidisciplinary clinics.
- Dedicated teaching for the fellows and great opportunity for them to be teachers to the junior team members.
- Excellent opportunity for research in terms of presentation/publication.
Area Profile: Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH) is a new purpose built 298 bed specialist paediatric hospital and trauma centre providing outstanding inpatient, outpatient and ambulatory medical care to children and adolescents up to 16 years of age. Located on the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre site in Nedlands, Perth, the hospital became fully operational in June 2018 and features world class facilities specifically designed around the needs of children, adolescents, families and carers of Western Australia.
With state of the art technology PCH offers an extensive range of specialist paediatric medical and surgical services supported by our 2,500 strong workforce of doctors, nurses, allied health and health science, diagnostics and medical imaging technologists, support services and research and training areas. PCH is the only dedicated tertiary paediatric hospital in Western Australia and operates under the Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) providing services throughout the community within Perth metropolitan area; specialized state wide services; as well as providing support to other hospitals and health services across the state.
