Appointment Pool
Student Wellbeing is seeking to establish a pool of Administrative Assistants for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during 2020 and up to the end of April 2021. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within 2020, up to 30 April 2021.
Suitable Applicants will provide clerical and administrative support to members of the Student Wellbeing branch. Tasks will include preparing meeting papers, agendas and minutes, credit card reconciliation, paying accounts and booking catering and travel for officers in the branch.
The Administrative Assistant will exhibit a good understanding of government processes and display good communication skills and strong interpersonal skills. Applicants displaying strong attention to detail and accuracy as well as the ability to be proactive, self-motivated, and able to use their own initiative will be highly regarded. Being a collaborative and effective team member is essential to this role.
The Student Support Services Directorate, and all other functions of Statewide Services, support successful outcomes for all students. This is achieved through a focus on better integration of services with schools, students, families and external service providers; supporting schools and networks of schools to deliver high quality teaching and learning in every classroom; and creating expanded opportunities for students to develop the academic, personal and social competencies they will need for participation in the workforce and society of the future.
This pool may be used to fill similar positions arising across the Student Support Directorate.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
- Experience in clerical and general administrative duties.
- Experience in purchasing, processing accounts for payment and monitoring expenditure for a business unit.
- Sound written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with individuals at all levels.
- Well-developed keyboarding and computer skills including a working knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, word processing and ability to use an electronic records management system.
- Sound organisational skills, including the ability to use initiative and work independently or as part of a team.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Employees will be required to obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment.
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
