School of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE) is seeking to establish a pool of Teacher - Mathematics for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2020 school year and up to the end of January, 2021. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2020 school year, up to the end of January, 2021.
Successful applicants will be responsible for teaching Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) Mathematics, as well as lower secondary Mathematics. The experience and qualifications to teach ATAR Maths Methods and ATAR Maths Specialist will be highly desirable.
As a teacher with SIDE you will exhibit innovation and creativity in classroom practices and cater for student diversity. It is highly desirable that successful applicants are able to understand instructional and curriculum design, exhibit self-reflective practices with a focus on quality teaching and is able to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
We are seeking applicants with knowledge and skills to utilise systemic data such as Student Achievement Information System (SAIS), National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) and Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA) to address individual student learning needs. Successful applicants will also have the ability to teach students from culturally diverse backgrounds including those who have English as an additional language/dialect.
In this role you will embrace the idea of delivering the curriculum through information communication technology (ICT). Teachers at SIDE make use of different technologies to achieve student outcomes. Our teachers are expected to engage students in an online format and use synchronous (WebEx) and asynchronous (Moodle) technologies as the basis of active student instruction.
SIDE, a state of the art online teaching and learning facility, is the centre for distance learning within the Department. Founded in 1918, SIDE has a rich history of student success and achievement for those studying through a distance education mode. SIDE has a large and diverse student population and provides education for a range of client groups across the State. Enrolments are typically students who are permanent residents in Western Australia.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
