Butler College is seeking to appoint a Digital Communications and Media Officer to join our dynamic team.
The Digital Communications and Media Officer will be responsible for coordinating promotional events and marketing activities, including Premier and Parliamentary Officer visits and parent and student information sessions. The College has a strong digital footprint and this role is a focus of the position. You will be responsible for maintaining and updating our website, completing Facebook posts, managing our online newsletters and for researching current trends and changes in web design. As we are an integrated site the text must also be adapted to suit the diverse community of the College.
The successful applicant should ideally have excellent interpersonal skills combined with the ability to work in both a team environment and autonomously. A part of the role will also be to work closely with the Principal to support Communications and Media releases, therefore, it is highly desirable for the successful applicant to be well organised and able to work under pressure with high accuracy.
Butler College is one of the new purpose built Integrated School Models with state of the art facilities and caters for over 1700 students. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Experience in writing for a range of audiences through a range of channels and formats
- Initiative and organisational skills, including the ability to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks
- Sound communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and supplier.
- Sound conceptual, analytical and research skills, including the ability to identify appropriate solutions
- Well-developed computer application skills

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
