Stirling Range National Park is a biodiversity hotspot that's home to more plant species than you'll find in the entire British Isles. The national park features 123 varieties of Western Australian orchids, over 100 species of birds and gives visitors the opportunity to take in sweeping vistas from Western Australia's only mountain range.

Similar appointments may be made from this process in locations throughout Western Australia within a 12-month period to positions that may be permanent or contract, including contract appointments with the possibility of subsequent permanency.

THIS IS A PERMANENT, FULL-TIME POSITION

THIS POSITION ATTRACTS A 25% NO FIXED HOURS ALLOWANCE IN ADDITION TO THE BASE SALARY

THIS POSITION IS BASED IN STIRLING RANGE NATIONAL PARK. THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL BE REQUIRED TO RESIDE IN RANGER HOUSING WITHIN THE NATIONAL PARK (SUBSIDISED RENT WILL APPLY)

Job Description

Under the general direction of the District Parks and Visitor Services (PVS) Coordinator:

Responsible for the works program and day to day operations within the Stirling Range National Park, liaison with stakeholder and Indigenous organisations and coordination of seasonal/ short term staff, volunteers and contractors.

Selection Criteria

Applicants should address the following three (3) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than three (3) pages in total.

  1. Experience in leading, supervising and managing teams, empowering individuals to work with confidence both in teams and independently to deliver agreed outcomes and priorities, with particular emphasis on the development, management and supervision of park-specific projects.

  2. Evidence of well-developed oral and interpersonal skills and experience in building and maintaining networks; liaising with the public, commercial tourism operators, community groups, special interest groups (including indigenous groups) and other stakeholders; and in patrol and enforcement procedures. 

  3. Experience and knowledge of implementing operational plans and works programs associated with visitor management and natural resource management, having regard to the threatening processes affecting native flora and fauna, rehabilitation techniques and the monitoring and control of pests and weeds.

Note: In accordance with relevant legislation and departmental policy, the successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current and satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.

AND

In accordance with the Working with Children (Criminal Record Checking) Act 2004, the successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current Working With Children Check card prior to commencement.
