Kent Street Senior High School (SHS) is looking for a Teacher – Home Economics to join their friendly team. The successful applicant will possess superior interpersonal skills and a demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment with students, teachers and the wider community to achieve the best educational outcomes for our students. A demonstrated capacity to deliver a curriculum that meets the needs of Year 7 to Year 10 students is essential. In this context, the senior schooling Technologies curriculum currently includes a Certificate course only.
Kent Street SHS is a Fashion and Design Approved Specialist Program school and offers Hospitality as a pathway. Proven capacity to deliver an engaging curriculum to motivate and inspire students in the contexts of food and textiles are essential. The current vacancy relates to general lower school Home Economics only. Only those with suitable qualifications and demonstrated experience in the delivery of the specified Technologies curriculum need apply.

As Teacher - Home Economics, you will participate as an integral member of the teaching team and be responsible for contributing to the collaborative approach to curriculum planning, providing learning programs to students suited to the needs of the school community and modelling exemplary teaching and learning strategies in your area of expertise. You will also need to be able to assist in the development and implementation of whole school initiatives resulting in innovative classroom practices.
Kent Street SHS is proud to be an Independent Public School located within 5 kilometres of the Perth CBD. We cater for a diverse clientele, some from across WA who travel great distances or reside at the Rotary Residential College located on our site to engage in our approved specialist programs. We also work as part of the Curtin Education Community to actively engage our local primary schools in the Victoria Park area with the ultimate aim that Kent Street becomes their secondary school of choice.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
