This is a six (6) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2020
Northcliffe District High School (DHS) is seeking a dedicated teacher of Maths and Science to a small cohort of secondary students in addition to Physical Education across the school.
Northcliffe DHS is a unique school where all staff strive to know and grow each individual student in multi-aged class settings. The school is being increasingly seen as an integral part of the community and is renowned for the personalised approach it takes to improvement in the attitude, behaviour and effort of each student. With seventy enrolments from kindergarten to year 10 the school the school both has the potential for future growth and for innovative practices.
The successful applicant will demonstrate a strong knowledge of the key elements of curriculum and pedagogy as well as an ability to inspire students to develop a passion for learning in vibrant, engaging and supportive classrooms. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to build effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community, in line with the School’s Vision.
As a district high school, facilities for Design and Technology, Home Economics, Science, Music and Computing are well equipped and fully utilised by students. There is also an Art/Drama room, a library, undercover area, basketball courts and reticulated oval which are all well used by all students.
Staff are highly committed to their students and ever-ready to work together on whole-of-school activities that are our hallmark. There is a wealth of professional experience among the team – all of whom are enthusiastic in supporting new staff members.
The Northcliffe community are very supportive of the school and there is an active and effective School Council and Parents and Citizens' Association. As a school the staff are aware of the need to reciprocate the support offered by working collaboratively with community groups on the many initiatives within the community.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;

- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
