This is a permanent part-time (0.5FTE) position commencing Term 1, 2020
The successful applicant will be joining a progressive and enthusiastic team of teachers who are engaged in implementing a whole school approach to the gifted and talented educational language programs offered in the school. We are seeking teachers with capacity to teach Languages – Italian up to year 12 Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) level.

The successful applicant will be relationship focused and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills while working collaboratively in a team environment. You will be motivated, innovative and demonstrate an engaging teaching style. You will reflect and assess the effectiveness of teaching practice, promote an environment of active and positive learning, and provide educational opportunities and activities, including beyond the classroom, which enable students to achieve their highest potential. Language teachers are expected to participate in co-curricular activities including the provision of overseas language study tours. Teachers are expected to engage in the pastoral care of students through the Advocacy program.
Perth Modern School, a proud government school, is Western Australia's only fully selective school for academically gifted students in Years 7 to 12. Perth Modern school currently operates on a seven-line grid/2-week rotation timetable. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;

- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
