Atwell College is seeking someone who is knowledgeable about a range of disabilities and the implementation of strategies to support and enhance individual development in all areas.
The successful applicant will be committed to excellence in teaching, have excellent classroom and behaviour management skills as well as highly developed interpersonal skills. Teachers in an education support environment will have the ability to work collaboratively and proactively in the Education Support team and positively manage a team of education assistants within their classroom. Applicants with knowledge and experience in working with students with moderate/ severe and complex high needs are encouraged to apply.
The successful applicant will have effective classroom management skills to enhance student wellbeing and personal responsibility, be flexible as well as have strong interpersonal and communication skills, a commitment to professional learning and a high-level of participation in collaborative team planning. The Education Support Teacher will have care and consideration for special educational needs students and have highly effective teaching practices and a willingness to seek constant improvement in their own practice.
Atwell College is a Positive Behaviour School and staff must be committed to developing genuine rapport with students and prioritising the development of a positive working environment to ensure student success. Teaching staff use Classroom Management Strategies (CMS) and evidence based lesson design to create a high quality learning environment. The successful applicant will have the ability to work collaboratively and proactively in the Education Support team.
Atwell College was established in 2008 and caters for students in Years 7-12. It is an Independent Public School. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
