Darling Range Sports College is seeking an innovative and enthusiastic Teacher - Learning Support Coordinator, and may include a teaching role in their speciality, with mutual acceptable conditions being met for the successful applicant and the College, who can inspire students to engage in curriculum, strive for excellence and is proactive in improving student outcomes.
The successful applicant will be responsible for coordinating and providing direct and indirect support for students with special educational needs and for staff who are teaching students with special needs. This is achieved through the integration of the Student Services team within the school, the capabilities of our students, as well as families and external service providers. Ultimately, the aim of the role is to expand opportunities for students to develop the academic, personal and social competencies they will need to participate within the wider school community.
Some of the responsibilities of this role include:
- Submit and manage applications for Special Education Needs (SEN) students
- Coordination of Individualised Education Program process for all staff
- Transition planning for SEN students entering and leaving Darling Range Sports College
- Manage and distribute Student At Educational Risk (SAER) list
- Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability data collection and management
- Share knowledge on specific learning difficulties
- Regular meetings with parents and external agencies based on the needs of individual students
- Coordinate the Gifted Education Programme (GEP) writing process and distribution
- Liaise with internal and external support agencies
- Direct and manage Education Assistants working as support in the classroom and also provide support with transitions and reporting.
The ability and experience in managing stressful situations and ability to liaise with parents and therapists to meet the educational and care needs of the students is highly regarded.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
