This is a twelve (12) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2020.

Eastern Goldfields Education Support Centre (ESC) is seeking to appoint a passionate and enthusiastic teacher to provide quality teaching and learning opportunities which cater for the individual learning needs of students.

You will develop meaningful and appropriate Individual Education Plans for students which outline functional curriculum objectives and support the whole child through targeted social-emotional skills, life skills and Protective Behaviours curriculum. Highly developed classroom management skills are crucial to create the safe and caring environments required for optimal learning to take place. You will possess outstanding communication skills and demonstrate strong leadership within the classroom and community.

The successful applicant will show care and consideration for special education students, highly effective teaching strategies and a willingness to improve their practice. The ability to effectively incorporate information and communications technology (ICT) into learning programs is highly desirable. 

Eastern Goldfields ESC is a small, dynamic school in Kalgoorlie which caters for approximately 29 students with a range of intellectual and physical disabilities. An enthusiastic team of teachers and Education Assistants are committed to providing a safe, inclusive learning environment and quality education for all children. Each student is supported to achieve the goals in their personalised learning plan, based on targets from ABLE-WA and the Western Australian Curriculum.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
