Wanneroo Secondary College (SC) is seeking an innovative leader, skilled communicator who is a dedicated, passionate and experienced educator to undertake the role of Learning Centre Manager (Level 3 Program Coordinator)
The Learning Centre caters for a wide range of students; those with an intellectual disability, autism, anxiety and challenging behaviours; those students who for any reason do not flourish is mainstream. Our aim is to equip all students with the skills and abilities to participate in Learning Centre and mainstream classes as appropriate to their needs. The Centre currently caters for thirty-six students, three classes each with their own teacher and education assistants. The students generally access mainstream classes according to their needs.
The key responsibilities of the successful applicant will include:
- Day to day management of the centre
- Development and the delivery of a differentiated curriculum appropriate to the students’ needs.
- Development of documented plans including case management with parents’ staff and outside providers.
- Management and implementation of SEN reporting
- Management of Education Assistants to support special needs students.
- Management of the budget and the resources of the Learning Centre.
- Liaising with administrative staff, school psychologist and outside agencies with regards to student well-being
An essential component of the position is the ability to teach the Preliminary Units and VET certificate courses to senior students therefore a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment would be highly desirable. As a member of senior staff you will support the successful achievement of the key targets of the Business Plan. You will use the AITSL standards to guide staff in developing the highest standards in teaching and learning. In particular, you will assist them to "plan for and implement effective teaching and learning", "create and maintain a supportive and safe learning environment" and engage in formative feedback.
Wanneroo SC is a co-educational secondary school located across two campuses. The Wanneroo Campus caters for years 7 to 12 and the Joondalup Campus caters for year 11 and 12 students who wish to access traineeships, apprenticeships and an extensive VET program. The college opened in 1977, it is located 24km north of the Perth CBD in a rapidly developing area with new suburbs constantly emerging and the fastest population growth rate in the country. Student numbers are around 1200 and will rise over the next few years. The staff of WSC are dedicated and hard-working, sharing in a strong collegiate spirit and a school ethos that encourages innovation and rewards effort and excellence.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
