This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2020

 Avonvale Education Support Centre (ESC) is seeking a passionate, caring and qualified Teacher - Education Support, with a desire to work in a collaborative and dynamic learning environment.

The successful applicant will be committed to making a difference in the lives of young people. They will be motivated, practical, hardworking, and innovative and possess outstanding interpersonal skills. The successful applicant will pursue excellence in classroom teaching, in particular when working with students with high needs. They would also need to possess excellent classroom practice, focusing on innovation and classroom management based on positive partnerships between students, education assistants, teachers and parents.

Avonvale ESC caters for approximately 24 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Our specialised facilities are split across two campuses with early intervention and primary school students located at Avonvale Primary School, and secondary students located at Northam Senior High School.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.

TRAINING

Employees will be required to:

  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
