Maddington Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of Teachers of Kindergarten to Year 6 (K-6) for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2020 school year and up to the end of Term 4, 2020. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2020 school year, up to the end of Term 4, 2020.
Suitable applicants will be responsible for providing excellent education in line with the school’s strategic direction and consistent with the Western Australian curriculum. Suitable applicants will ideally have the capacity and commitment to work collaboratively to develop their capacity and the capacity of team members.
Maddington PS adopts a whole school approach to explicit teaching and pedagogy. Knowledge of Talk4Write, PLD, Soundwaves, Challenges and Choices, warm ups, Targeting Maths, Guided Reading and Magic Words is preferable. There is a whole approach to coaching by senior teachers and classroom observation.
Suitable applicants will ideally have a high level of knowledge in the areas of instruction and assessment, as well as knowledge of effective teaching of literacy and numeracy. Suitable applicants will also ideally have knowledge and understanding of the role information and communication technology (ICT) plays in the enhancement of learning programs.
Maddington PS is located on Albany Highway, south of the city, and currently caters for approximately 200 students from K-6. We also have on site an Education Support Centre which caters for approximately 40 students of varying disabilities and special needs. The school aims to provide a creative and innovative learning environment that is intellectually, emotionally and physically supportive of learning. In fostering this development, our school values reflect the rich diversity of its community and promote positive involvement and interaction between students, staff and parents.
Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.

- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
